It goes without saying to anyone who ever knew Toya and I when we were running together that there was no more dynamic duo than the two of us. For almost 4yrs Toya and I were inseparable... but then one day, Toya chose to leave. Toya and I wouldn't speak again for almost 10yrs and recently we hashed out some of our differences and I apologized to her for mistakes I made with regard to not being the "big brother" she deserved. For the first time in 10yrs, Toya and I sat down and talked about our personal and professional relationships, where things went wrong and how we've gotten to where we are today. If you want to know the rise and fall of New Blood Entertainment, no one knows the story better than Toya... she lived all of it. This was a very emotional episode for the both of us... Brandon is back with episode 47 after a really long hiatus and we think this will be one you'll all enjoy. President Delaney is an exceptional man and the sort of person I don't think most folks would end up being an episode for the podcast. But President Delaney and I had a conference call scheduled and I asked him if I could record it so that I could get the information out to the alumni base without having to transcribe it and this format was the best format I had available. So I was watching the Insecure finale and something just came to my mind... something I found to be tremendously important to share... and so I did. Look, some folks might not like it, but some folks might... either way my thoughts are out there. SPOILER ALERT IN MAJOR EFFECT!!! Enjoy guys!

So there had been a bunch of stuff I hadn't spoken on and well... I decided to speak my mind. I'm sure someone will have a problem with it, so here we go... Enjoy!

Bae turned 44 today, so I had to say happy birthday to my boo...lol.

Regarded in the field of music as one of the greatest chorus directors and influential music minds of the last 25yrs, John Larsen (or "Dad" to many of his students) is an exceptional mind. Responsible for shaping the musical infancy of some of the greatest voices to come out of Jacksonville, FL., the music scene as we know it would not exist in the manner in which it exist without John. Some of your favorite music promoters, producers, DJs, rappers, jazz singers, gospel singers, and musical educators have all sat under the learning tree of Mr. Larsen and I was privileged to get a chance to sit down and catch up with him before he starts off his new school year. We talk about everything from growing up in Jacksonville, choosing to attend JU, how he got into teaching at First Coast High, why he left First Coast and how many more years he has left before he rides off into the sunset. I really enjoyed this episode and I hope you all do too!

Manny is without question, one of the great hip hop influencers of the last 30yrs... not even up for debate. But that being said, many folks in circles outside of the industry may not be aware of just how far reaching his influence goes. From Uptown Records with Sean "P. Diddy" Combs (who he also went to highschool with), his time working on 106 & Park and his massive impact on what the entertainment industry now refers to as "guerilla street marketing," you can't work in the hip hop industry without coming across someone who knows Manny. I had a great time sitting down with Manny (who can TALK)and I think you guys will learn a lot from this episode. Enjoy!

Inspired by my a blog post made by my sister Kandice Jacobs-Armstrong, I finally felt comfortable enough to articulate my feelings in a way that doing so publicly didn't make me feel ashamed. Someone else is facing the very same challenges and even with that aside, my daddy needs to know that we love him, we appreciate him and regardless of any circumstances his children have his back. So this one is dedicated to daddy, Willie B. Jacobs... the greatest man I've ever known.

Sorry for the delay, but wanted to keep coming with consistent QUALITY content and I felt it only right to take it back to the streets and show love to a member of my generation in the Duval entertainment scene with Supa Chino. When you listen to Chino talk, you get a real sense of where he's from and his credibility shines through. I don't hold back and I made sure to ask the questions I know you all were wondering about Chino's history, while at the same time learning some things about his career that I didn't know. When you talk about the hip hop industry people often immediately think about a career as a rapper, DJ or a promoter. But the industry of hip hop has transcended far beyond just those few career paths and Terrence Tyson is a man known for blazing a unique path as a professional hip hop photographer. I had a great time sitting down with Terrence to talk about his time in the industry, his choice to attend BCU (should've went to FAMU...lol), meeting Julia Beverly for the first time, his relationship with Malik Abdul and so much more! Big Bodie doesn't like being called a legend, but he is. His impact on the Duval hip hop scene and really music in general will echo throughout history and it was one of my great privileges to have him on the podcast. We cover a great deal in this episode from his time coming up in Duval, to how he linked with the Runnings, his perception on today's artists coming out of the city and so much more. Be warned, Bodie controlled this conversation, so I could only act as the one to bring the wheel back straight when we got too far off track, but Bodie made sure to say whatever he had to say... unfiltered and blood raw. Our city lost one of its greatest influencers... and I lost a mentor and a big brother. D. Wash, I wouldn't be the man I am today and none of what I earned as a member of our community would have been possible without you. So I felt it only right to take a moment to pay my respects to a Duval County legend. I'll see you on the other side big bro. Keep a bottle on ice for me with a nice cigar...

I must admit, I was unsure of what we would talk about when I first sat down with Tokyo Jetz, but once I was able to get the conversation rolling I found her to be terribly sweet and completely engaging. Tokyo has had a rise to fame that very few ever experience and she's very candid about how her career started and how initially, she wasn't as passionate about being apart of the music industry as she is now. One of the shorter episodes, but definitely entertaining... especially when she talks about talking to TI for the first time and when she shuts me down on one question in particular...lol. Enjoy yall...

I don't think there are many people quite like Young Cash. When you sit down and talk to him, there's a level of honesty and transparency that I think very few artist possess when you talk to them about their careers. After finally getting enough of his time to do a complete episode, Cash and I sat down and chopped it up while he was driving to New Orleans to do what he does best... work on music. We talked about everything from him growing up in Jacksonville, going to college to play basketball, his rise in music and yes, we do cover the federal indictment. Cash was completely honest about everything and I enjoyed getting a chance to catch up with one of Duval County's favorite sons. Just press play and enjoy!
