Is it bad to want more money?
25/02/2022 Duração: 41minSo many of us have early family scripts about money. Do you think money is good - or just a necessary evil to survive? Do you think more money would make you happier? Is the only purpose of money to be able to retire? Here I have a conversation with Derrick Kinney about his new book, Good Money Revolution - How to Make More Money to do More Good. Questions: 1. Isn’t the American Dream - make enough to “retire” and then you don’t have to continue the rat race of making money? 2. I know it’s nice to be generous but won’t giving more just delay my ability to retire? 3. Is there really such a thing as a “fixed income” or does everyone have the ability to make more? 4. Why do most religions seem to imply that having money is unGodly? Get direct links to the resources mentioned on this podcast, including Derrick Kinney’s new book, Good Money Revolution as well as my free worksheet on Investing In Yourself, in the podcast show notes at https://www.48days.com/is-it-bad-to-want-more-money/ Summary Points to Consider:

Don't call it a dream, call it a plan
04/02/2022 Duração: 49minI start this by telling how Joanne and I moved across the country - with no idea where we would live, or what I would do for work. But we had a dream of a better life and we took massive action before having all the details in place. Don't just live in your dreams. Take action - every step can move you closer to seeing that dream come true. Questions: 1. I’m feeling ashamed that I’m so far behind on your Stages of Life model. 2. I don’t know what to do to make my life better. 3. Should I stay at my government job for 1.5 more years to get full retirement benefits or leave now? 4. The idea of self employment is somewhat intimidating, but I'm trying it out in smaller increments. Five point summary: A dream is a wish your heart makes. A plan makes your feet move. "I had no choice," actually means, "I had only one path that was easy in the moment.” “I don’t know what to do to make my life better.” “Pray, but when you pray, move your feet.” Don’t stop learning and growing, no matter what stage of life yo

Are you trapped in the shallow waters of avarice?
28/01/2022 Duração: 44minA listener feels like he's gotten trapped by getting a paycheck. He says, I took the path of least resistance which has led me down a perilous pike of disappointment and despair. As a direct result of our financial obligations, I absolved myself of the freedom to easily pursue my dreams for the oppressive restraints of debt. The merry-go-round of my professional life has left me no farther than a few steps from where I got on and now with a weak stomach.” Let's discuss what to do if you have similar feelings. Questions: 1. In addition to the Great Resignation what is another silent form of resignation? 2. Why are companies looking for “pre-quitting” behaviors? 3. Does your company need a “dream manager”? 4. Are you still sitting on that nail? What if I’m too old to be successful?
21/01/2022 Duração: 39minEach week we hear from people who are 27 and those who are 77 who feel they missed their opportunity for success. Like they've missed the window of time where they could have done something significant. Phrases like “I feel like I’ve lived my whole life by accident”, “I feel like my life is a movie that’s almost over, and I haven’t even bought the popcorn yet” and “I’m a butterfly caught in a spider’s web, with my life slowly being sucked out of me” are common. There's hope! No matter where you are in life you can still move toward the dream and how you want to be remembered. I've got a framework for your stage of life - right now. Questions: 1. You don't really talk about the tech side of your podcast much, but I am curious what podcast host you use? Also, any other information / equipment that you think is best for setting up a podcast. 2. What if I’m too old to chase my dream? Get the direct links to the resources mentioned in this podcast, including the resource “When is it too late to find work you love"

Maybe I need to think more vs do more…
14/01/2022 Duração: 47minI've always loved setting big goals at the beginning of each year. In fact, I am consistent about having my goals completed for the coming year, in seven different areas of my life, by November 14th of each preceding year. But recently I’ve been challenged by some people I love and trust about the necessity of approaching the new year in that manner. People whom I highly admire, who are kind and loving, and also very high achievers. Maybe it's more about mindset than having a to-do list. Questions: 1. I would LOVE to do a remote job or start my own home business. I am so scared of the financial aspect of it. 2. After much arguing with my husband, I am almost at the point of giving up but I feel deep down that I must go on. 3. I am in the process of launching a podcast called “Life’s Final Hour” which consists of interviewing people that have 6 months or less to live to learn life’s most important lesson. 4. I want to get your insight on moving from being an employee to being a consultant. 5. I need to f

07/01/2022 Duração: 48minQuestions: 1. When you were first getting started, how did you decide that career and life coaching was your niche? 2. How can we get people who have the means to help with spreading our message to people who need it but can’t afford it? 3. How do you get someone to join your mission? 4. I have a dream of opening a breakfast cafe with a limited menu that could serve as a location for people to gather for Bible studies. 5. Maybe you just need a new map…
31/12/2021 Duração: 29minThere are always multiple ways to get to your desired destination. The important component is that you DECIDE to get to your destination. 24/12/2021 Duração: 14minWe tend to give to people who have less than we have. But what about people who have more - who are not struggling financially? Here's a challenge and some tips for giving well to people who are doing well (financially). Question: 1. How do you show appreciation, encouragement or inspiration to someone who is doing well? If nothing else, you can give away a smile…
17/12/2021 Duração: 34minI'm so aware right now of people who are fearful, discouraged, frustrated and lonely. It's clear the uncertainty and unexpected changes of the last two years have contributed to many feeling ungrounded and vulnerable. It doesn’t take money to give some of the most precious gifts: time, encouragement, a listening ear. Be very aware of those around you, especially during that time of year. Give the gift of a smile today. It costs you nothing, and you still have it to give again and again. Questions: 1. Is it a bad thing to avoid work? 2. My husband and I both realized it wasn't just job satisfaction we were struggling with, it was our entire lifestyle. 3. When you talk about the books you have read, do you read every book word for word or is it just skimming for highlights? 4. How can I find time for another income stream when working 60 hours a week already and taking care of family members with health issues? I looked for my passion - and found nothing
10/12/2021 Duração: 45minDon't expect "passion" to show up fully developed. It's typically more developed than discovered. Start by following your Curiosity, build some Proficiency, develop your Passion, find a Purpose, provide a Promise, and enjoy the Profits. Anyone can start with 10 ideas and from there, have a clear direction, plan and profits in 48 Days. Questions: 1. Can I have multiple business ideas under one business name? 2. I looked for my passion and found nothing. 3. I'm making too much money at my regular job to focus enough time on my side business. 4. After 38 years of pastoral ministry I’m struggling with charging for coaching. 5. How can I be like Dan and start and grow an online business without using social media. 6. Actually getting from ‘having a business' to ‘having a business that makes money’? 7. How can I make the money promised in the MLM company? I’m not working so I’m free - really??
03/12/2021 Duração: 52min4.4 million people quit their jobs in October. The "antiwork" movement is growing rapidly. Is being "free" from work really "freedom?" Maybe Janis Joplin framed it best with "Freedom's just another word for nothing left to lose." In 48 Days to the Work You Love I quote Leo Tolstoy who discovered “that work, and not idleness, is the indispensable condition of happiness for every human being.” Questions: 1. Can we balance work we love and work we don’t love? 2. How can I sell my art to make a living? 3. How long should I stick with an idea before moving on? 4. I’m an airline pilot making great money but gone from my family 20 days a month. 5. How can I coach when I don’t have an office? What’s more important - what you have done or what you haven’t done?
19/11/2021 Duração: 52minSome listeners are cringing about setting big goals for 2022 because of the fear of not reaching them. My encouragement: Measure your goal achievement by looking back at the progress you've made rather than the gap from where you are to where you want to be. Questions: 1. Is this a crisis - or a wakeup call to a better life?
12/11/2021 Duração: 38minThe eagles build a nest using thornbush strands to lock it together. Then they cover them with leaves and feathers to make it soft and comfortable. However, when the eaglets are about twelve weeks old, mom and dad eagles begin to remove the protection from the thorns. Pretty soon the little eaglets are up on the edge of the nest to avoid the pain and discomfort. Then mom and dad eagle fly by with tasty morsels of food just out of reach. Soon the little eaglet makes a big leap to get away from the pain and the hunger, and you know what happens – he learns he can fly. Questions: 1. After 10 years, my job has turned into a nightmare. I just want to be able to support my family. 2. How do I get my college age son to get motivated for life and break the rut of failing classes, playing video games, and being generally lazy? 3. I would but I don’t have the money!
22/10/2021 Duração: 50minNo, money is never the obstacle. Coming up with an idea and a plan is the real issue. If you have a great idea and a proven plan of action, people will throw money at you. In this episode I give an example of a very profitable business I started with $10.53. Questions: 1. Is the 48 Days Eagles community ok for someone who may not have entrepreneurial aspirations? 2. I have always been told that hard work pays off but in my case it seems in order to get ahead I need to be a jerk. 3. My wife and I want to start an interior painting business on the side to help us meet some financial goals. 4. How do you decide when a business just isn’t working? 5. My issue isn’t fear; it’s lack of funds to get started on my business. I don’t even have a couple hundred bucks.
