3 Strikes, You're Out #53: Ballpark Rankings with Theo Rabinowitz
04/12/2020 Duração: 01h12minThere's no place on earth I'd rather be than a big league ballpark. I've been visiting them on vacation ever since I was nine years old and have always tried to plan road trips around taking in a game somewhere. Sometimes I think I'd run through Hell itself to go to a ballpark. And then I remember I've already gone to St. Louis. I've been to 21 of the current MLB parks and on this episode, I'm joined by Yankee fan Theo Rabinowitz (CBS Sports) who's been to even more. So we decided to compare our Top 10s of all time. There's a few you'd expect (Wrigley, Fenway, San Francisco) and a few that will probably surprise you. We also discuss our all-time underrated and overrated parks as well as where our favorite places for food are. If you're a fan of baseball travel or an MLB owner who just wants to recall the days when actual people showed up to fork over a second mortgage for nachos, this is the episode for you! Speaking of cheap-ass owners, we recorded this on the night the Cubs non-tendered Kyle Schwarber. As y

26/11/2020 Duração: 36minHello, Lovelies! This Thanksgiving (or, as Brian refers to it, mac & cheese mountain day) we're taking a detour into the fun and chaotic realms of pro wrestling. Brian and his partner, KC, watched a battle royal between a number of Japanese regional mascots known as Yuru-Chara, including the baseball bat-wielding legend Chiitan. And New Japan Pro Wrestling legend Masahiro Chono was there cheering them on. It's such a gratifying 15 minutes of chaos that we had to chat about it. Consider this your pro wrestling topping for your post-meal pie! 3 Strikes, You're Out #52: Nothing Compares 2 Theo with Away Games
20/11/2020 Duração: 35minTheo Epstein resigned as Cubs president this week. And I am up in my feelings about it! Staying up until 3 AM watching 2016 Game 7 eating Ben & Jerry's Americone Dream listening to "Pictures of You" on repeat FEELINGS... This one is a crossover with Kevin McCaffrey and Adam Mamawala of Cubs Brawl: The Away Games Podcast because sometimes you need your besties to talk you through it when something beautiful ends. And it's a measure of Theo's impact that we spent the entire podcast discussing what we admired about him but we didn't get around to any of the moves he actually made until there was less than a minute left in our Zoom. In short, this has been the best time ever to be a Cub fan. By exponential orders of magnitude. And it's largely due to Theo Epstein and the culture he instilled in this organization. It's the end of an era. But until Theo got to Chicago, we never expected that anything like this could happen to our team. And we're forever grateful. Weep not for the memories. Twitter: @KenSchultz_

16/11/2020 Duração: 31minKen Schultz came out around the same time as Olympic diver Tom Daley, and he too originally identified as bi. 3 Strikes, You're Out #51: Tony La Russa...Why? with Jim Flannigan
13/11/2020 Duração: 42minThis is an episode about the White Sox. Which means we should be spending all of it talking about AL MVP Jose Abreu. But we're not. In fact, Abreu doesn't come up until the end. Why? Tony La Russa, that's why. Comedian and Sox fan Jim Flannigan (All Over the Place podcast) stops by. In a sane world, he should be thrilled right now. His team is young, fun, and super talented. They just broke their playoff drought and look to take control of the AL Central for a while. But instead, he's confused and upset. Why? Tony La Russa, that's why. We spend most of our time trying to unpack this ghastly and embarrassing hire by Jerry Reinsdorf, who overrode his GM, players, and fans because he did Tony wrong once in 1986 and apparently that has to be corrected in order for the universe to balance itself. Or some other dumb as hell reason...it's not clear! But what is clear is this: Reinsdorf is an old white man with all the money. And guys like that never get told they just did something massively reckless, stupid, and da
