The utterly delightful Emily Blunt returns as a guest on BBC Radio 1's Screen Time to talk about her latest film, the long-awaited horror-thriller A Quiet Place Part 2, finally now in UK cinemas. Expect a joyfully anarchic tone generally as Ali and Emily talk leg injuries, how to be come best friends with Cillian Murphy and car stunts with Tom Cruise.

With The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring soon to celebrate its 20th birthday, LOTR superfan and friend of the podcast Clarisse Loughrey stops by to wax lyrical with Ali about the sheer unadulterated excellence of Peter Jackson's fantasy trilogy. So there's that to look forward to - as well as a tonne of iconic quotes to enjoy - as well as a shorter-than-usual news section and a reminder of what's still to come in June...

Emma Stone and Emma Thompson spoke to Ali over that there internet recently to talk about their latest, Disney's Cruella, a live-action tale of the origin story of the 101 Dalmatians villain. Also along for the ride are director Craig Gillespie and co-stars Kirby Howell-Baptiste and Jon McCrae. All were on fine form, even when Ali managed to stick his foot in it in a gloriously unfortunate way.

A bonus interview special for you this weekend - that's right, you've been good, you deserve it - in the form of this The Mitchells vs. the Machines chat with its director Mike Rianda as well as its producers, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller. All three are on excellent form as they discuss their critically-acclaimed animation now that so many of us have had a chance to watch it and fall in love with it. Expect discussions that involve 'Shining socks' and small wooden moose figurines. As you do.

Director-writer-producer-director-of-photography Zack Snyder is back with another zombie movie - just 17 years after Dawn Of The Dead - in the form of Netflix's Army Of The Dead, which sees Dave Bautista heading up a group of mercenaries as they attempt a Las Vegas casino vault heist... while thousands of zombies swarm around the building. In this interview special you'll hear from both Snyder and Bautista, as well as some of the supporting cast, namely Nora Arnezeder, Ana de la Reguera, Ella Purnell, Tig Notaro, Matthias Schweighöfer and Omari Hardwick. It's a bumper episode, and no mistake!

Cinemas are back open in England, Scotland and Wales so Ali is very, very excited indeed. Friend of the podcast Louise Blain is back for the spooky 'Ali Plumb's Film Club' choice this week, The Conjuring. Listen as we try not to talk about Assassin's Creed too much (she's a big fan) and instead chat about the finest horror films of the 21st century - in our opinion, any way - as well as the ongoing success of the Conjuring franchise. All that plus the usual mix of movie news and nonsense as we celebrate going back to cinemas (in England, Scotland and Wales, at any rate) on Monday May 17th.

A League Of Their Own is the movie pick for 'Ali Plumb's Film Club' this week, chosen by guest Cathy Cullen from the Cinemile podcast. So there's that to look forward to, as well as the usual does of movie and TV news - but this Friday edition we also have some TV recommendations for you now that Line Of Duty has wrapped up, as well as a segment at the very end about the best 'underseen / underappreciated' sports movies of all time. As requested by you, dear Radio 1's Screen Time listener, it's time to talk about the John Hughes (and Steve Martin and John Candy) odd couple road trip Thanksgiving comedy classic Planes, Trains and Automobiles for this week's 'Ali Plumb's Film Club'. Joining us to do so is Sam Clements, who hosts the '90 Minutes Or Less Film Fest' podcast which celebrates all moves under that magic 90-minute mark - only this time, here on this podcast, he gets to talk about one that's just over, at 92 minutes or so. This is basically some sort of therapy for him, more or less. So look forward to that, plus your weekly dose of movies and TV new headlines and a whole load of waffle, just the way you like it.

Our Ali resists flat-out asking Andy Samberg to be his 'new best friend' during this Story So Far interview in honour of his new time-loopy romantic comedy-drama Palm Springs, now - at long last! - available on Amazon Prime Video in the UK, nearly a year after those lucky Americans got to see it first in 2020.
