What better way to appreciate the environment than to walk 2,160 miles through some of the most beautiful vistas in North America? That is precisely what Jeff Alt did in 1998, and has gone on to hike the 218-mile John Muir Trail with his wife, and carry his 21-month old daughter along the coast of Ireland on a family hike.
